The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently awarded Fresno Pacific University (FPU) the annual Make-A-Wish Award for the school raising the most funds for the foundation in the 2015-2016 year. FPU raised over $3,200 for the organization during the period.

FPU raised the money through a number of collaborative efforts between the school’s athletes and the local community. The school held baseball, basketball, soccer, water polo, and volleyball games with donations going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through these activities the school’s athletes engaged the local community, and also learned to put others before themselves.

FPU’s efforts turned out to directly benefit someone from the FPU family. Emilio Gomez had his wish granted when he joined 31 other children in attending 2016’s WWE WrestleMania. He even got a chance to meet his favorite wrestlers, John Cena and Roman Reigns.
